Join us in Big Orange Country on April 11-13 for Orange & White Weekend! It provides families an opportunity to preview VOLS football at Neyland Stadium during the annual inter-squad Orange & White Game. The Office of New Student & Family Programs is planning a lunch on Saturday, April 12, prior to the Orange & White game. Check back often, as new events are regularly added to the schedule.

Join the Knoxville Symphony Opera as they present Bellini’s Norma in the historic Tennessee Theatre. A triangle of forbidden love unfolds against the backdrop of war between the Gauls and the Romans. Norma, the Druid Priestess, has betrayed her vows of chastity in liaison with the conquering Roman governor, who is now entangled in an affair with a younger priestess. Unable to protect her people and humiliated by her own actions, Norma throws herself into the flames of the temple’s sacrificial pyre. The overwhelming passions of three intense characters inspired Vincenzo Bellini’s tragic masterpiece, featuring some of the most ravishing and dramatic music ever composed. 13th Annual Rossini Festival

 The Rossini Festival is dedicated to celebrating the arts with a spectacular feast of dance, music and opera from the Region’s best talent. The Festival drew over 100,000 people from Knox County and the surrounding region in 2012 to showcase our wealth of culture, live entertainment and education with areas for children, culinary offerings, artisan exhibits and much more. The Rossini Festival International Street Fair is offered FREE to the community each year

Be sure to order your Tennessee Family fleece blanket during Family Weekend registration. This 50×60″ orange fleece has “TENNESSEE Family” embroidered on one corner.

Parents Association Golf Umbrella ($20)

These umbrellas are orange and white, with a Parents Association logo in one panel. They have a vented top and a rubberized handle for comfort. They’re 58″ when open all the way.

Travel & Parking

Friday, April 11, 2014
If you plan to check-in on Friday afternoon, temporary parking will be available in Circle Park. You will need to obtain a guest parking permit from the information booth at the entrance of Circle Park, which will be issued for 45 minutes (this time limit is strictly enforced). Longer term parking (for visiting with your student and/or shopping in the UT Bookstore) is available in the Volunteer Hall parking garage located off White Avenue behind the UT Law School. Saturday, April 12, 2014
There are two options for parking on Saturday for the tailgate and Orange & White football game.

  1. Free parking will be available in select staff and commuter lots. This parking is available on a first come, first served basis.
  2. The Parents Association will also be selling reserved event parking permits for $7 per permit. These permits will be for reserved spaces in lot S30 between the tailgate (in Thompson-Boling Arena) and the Orange & White Football Game (in Neyland Stadium), immediately behind the Student Services Building. This parking will be most convenient to the main activities on Saturday. Please here for a detailed campus map.

Other Important Information

Please Note: Due to the nature of processing, planning, and event coordination, the Parents Association is unable to offer refunds to any Family Weekend registrant at any time. The Parents Association Family Weekend will take place except in the most severe weather conditions. In the event of rain, all activities will take place as scheduled, possibly in alternate locations. However, in the event of severe weather such as lightning, the Parents Association, together with UT may elect to delay or cancel any part of Family Weekend at any time. Due to the nature of event planning and coordination, the Parents Association will not offer any refunds, in full or in part, to any participant due to weather. There will be professional photography services on site at Family Weekend and other Parents Association events. The Parents Association reserves the right to use these pictures in publications and on University of Tennessee website(s) as it sees fit.
