Student Orientation is the beginning of a wonderful journey at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Orientation is designed to promote your personal academic success and individual development for students, and provide parents with vital information to ensure success. Informative presentations, small group discussions, academic advising, and course registration are designed to help students enter the University informed and confident about success at the University of Tennessee.
Starting a new chapter in your life is an exciting, but sometimes nerve-wracking time, that's why Orientation sessions help you navigate the transition with resources to assist you - both inside and outside the classroom.
Orientation is strongly advised for all First-Year, Transfer, and Non-Traditional students entering UT Knoxville, and will be the first time students can meet with an academic advisor to discuss their personal academic plan.. First-year orientation sessions are often two-day (overnight) sessions, while orientation for transfer and non-traditional students is one day.
During the program, special sessions facilitated by university administrators and faculty members will be offered to provide you with information about the University. Orientation reservations are made on a first-response basis, so please read the information carefully and respond in a timely manner.
