
Welcome Leaders (WLs) work during UT's Welcome Week (August 15-24, 2013) to guide more than 4,000 new first-year students through their first week on campus. Each WL mentors a group of first-year students and helps them navigate Big Orange Country during Welcome Week. WLs assist with Life of the Mind discussion groups and show new students around campus. Welcome Leader applications are due on Wednesday, February 20. Staff will review all applications and will notify applicants on February 28. No interview is required to be a Welcome Leader.
Welcome Leaders are required to attend five weekly training meetings in small groups during second session of spring semester (March 8-April 12, no meeting during Spring Break) conducted by a Welcome Leader Student Coordinator. These training meetings will last two hours and are necessary to be part of the 2013 Welcome Leader team. The WL application will ask you to rank your top five meeting times (that work with your schedule) and staff will assign you a meeting time based on your rankings.

Welcome Leaders are asked to attend training sessions on Thursday & Friday, August 15 & 16. Welcome Week kicks off on Saturday, August 17 and concludes on Saturday, August 24.
