Family Weekend Registration

Family Weekend Registration is still open! Thank you to all the families that have already registered! Registration will remain open this week for all events including the Friday Night Dinner, Parent and Family Seminars, the outdoor movie, and other Friday evening programming. We hope you will make plans to attend the Big Orange Tailgate Party and the UT vs. Northern Illinois Football game. These Volunteer Traditions are sure to be a great time for you and your family.

Make Orange Green Week

UT's Make Orange Green campaign is sponsoring "Make Orange Green Week" with numerous events focused on increasing students' awareness of environment friendliness and sustainability. A highlighted event during the week is the Light Bulb Exchange, in which students living in residence halls can exchange their standard (incandescent) light bulbs for free low-energy compact fluorescents. The schedule for the exchange is: September 10-11 at Laurel, Volunteer, and Clement Halls; Sept 15-16 at Massey, Greve, and Hess Halls; and Sept 17-18 at Reese, North Carrick, South Carrick, and Humes Halls. Career Services Fall Job Fair

Career Services is hosting their annual Fall Job Fair on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM in Thompson-Boling Arena. Students from all majors are encouraged to attend this free job fair. Click here for more information and for a list of employers coming to the Fall Job Fair.

Chancellor Forums

Students are welcome and encouraged to attend the forums for the remaining chancellor candidates. The final forum for Dr. Jennie Hunter-Cevera is 3:15 PM today, Wednesday, September 10, in the University Center Auditorium. Forums for Dr. Ellen Wartella are September 15-16, and forums for Dr. Howard Johnson are September 18-19. Finally, forums for Dr. Jimmy Cheek are Sept. 24-25. Forums will be webcast. Love United Gospel Choir

Love United Gospel Choir (LUGC) holds practices Friday evenings at 7:00 PM at the Black Cultural Center. LUGC encourages all students from all races, ethnic backgrounds and paths to join for the sole purpose of ministering through song. Besides singing, the Love United Gospel Choir and its members continuously serve the UT campus and Knoxville community. Pre-Game Faculty Showcase Kicks Off Saturday

UT's College of Arts and Sciences continues its Pre-Game Faculty Showcase series this football season. These 45-minute informative, entertaining presentations feature all-stars of the UT Knoxville College of Arts and Sciences faculty. Each presentation is free and open to the public and begins two hours prior to kick-off in the University Center Ballroom, Room 213. Complimentary light refreshments are provided. The first showcase takes place prior to the Volunteers' home opener against the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday, September 13, 2008 and will feature Wesley Baldwin, associate professor in the Cello Studio in the School of Music and is entitled "Brazilian-Bach Fusion: The Music of Villa-Lobos."
