Rawlsian Liberalism in Context(s) Symposium

Toyota Auditorium, Howard H. Baker, Jr. Center for Public Policy
Visit this two-day workshop to learn more about John Rawls, who gave a voice to the most powerful and systematic moral theory or constitutional liberal democracy since John Stuart Mill's work a century earlier. Symposium speakers include professors from The University of Arizona, Cornell, The University Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame. The symposium is provided by the Department of Philosophy. offers family-friendly events with unique sounds!
On February 26, enjoy a live performance by
Robin Rogers in a tribute to the "Uncrowned Queen of the Blues". Rogers was nominated for Contemporary
Blues Female Artist of the Year at the 2009 Blues Music Awards in Memphis.

costs for the Alive After Five event are $6 for museum
members and students with a student ID, $10 for non-members, and free for children, ages 17 and under. Tickets for
the Alive After Five event will be available
for purchase on site at the Knoxville Museum
of Art on Friday evening.

Knoxville Symphony Orchestra Presents, Shakespeare in Love

Enjoy an evening in the beautiful historic Tennessee Theatre with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. The KSO is holding a special block of discounted seats for UT Parents Association members to their Friday evening, February 26th, performance titled “Shakespeare in Love” conducted by Maestro Lucas Richman. All three works, McDowell’s Hamlet and Ophelia, Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet Fantasy-Overture and Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream were inspired by the plays of William Shakespeare. In addition to the orchestra, Mendelssohn’s score will feature the sounds of the Knoxville Chamber Chorale, and actors from the Clarence Brown Theatre will perform passages from the play during and between the musical movements. Parents Association members’ special pricing for this concert is $30.80 for adults and $12 for students and children ages 2-college. A limited number of seats are being held in the Right Front section of the Tennessee Theatre for Parents Association members attending Family Weekend - these tickets are normally $40. Discounted tickets for this show will be available during Family Weekend registration. Tickets purchased through Family Weekend registration will be available at Family Weekend check-in.

UT Men's Swimming Meet

Watch the Vols Swimming & Diving Teams work to qualify for additional NCAA times. The NCAA Championships take place in Columbus, OH at the end of March. This meet will provide the men's teams one last opportunity to improve times for the NCAA Championship Meet.
Family Weekend Brunch

Join the Parents Association, the Parents Council and other parents and families for a Family Weekend brunch just prior to the men's basketball game in the Hermitage Room on the third floor of the University Center. The brunch menu and other details are being finalized.

The Knoxville Outdoor Sports Expo is the region's premier showplace for hunting, fishing, camping and small boating. Visitors can view exhibits and attend seminars presented by well known experts in the outdoor sports industry. On display are the latest outdoor products with demonstrations by the nation's leading suppliers and manufacturers. Professional guides and outfitters are available to book hunting and fishing trips worldwide. Valuable door prizes will be given away daily. Plenty of free information, samples and other giveaways are available to take home. Tickets are $10 for adults and children under 12 are free.

Enjoy the Family Weekend dinner at Calhoun's on the River - a Knoxville hotspot! Calhoun's, one of the South's best known waterfront restaurants, is located on the Tennessee River. Calhoun's offers a panoramic view of the Tennessee River and University of Tennessee's Neyland Stadium and Thompson-Boling Arena. The dinner menu is being finalized and will be available soon.

Come watch the Knoxville Ice Bears take on the Columbus Cottonmouths. The Parents Association has secured discounted tickets for Family Weekend guests for this game. Tickets are located in three sections: Silver tickets (upper balcony) are $8, Gold tickets (lower balcony) are $12, and VIP tickets are $18. Contact Kim Bittinger at (865) 522-7825 to reserve discounted tickets in advance. Guests must reference "UT Parents Association" when purchasing to take advantage of the discount.

The Knoxville Museum of Art serves East Tennessee with outstanding exhibitions and educational programs. The museum is located in downtown Knoxville at 1050 World’s Fair Park, between campus and downtown Knoxville. Enjoy the Alive After Five event on Friday evening, and the Art Moves Exhibit on Saturday and Sunday. Presented by Momentum Dance Lab, Art Moves is a longstanding collaboration between local music composers, choreographers and dancers. These artists draw inspiration from works exhibited in the Knoxville Museum of Art. During the performance, live and original dance and music literally 'move' through the museum space resulting in family friendly, full sensory experience of the arts. Momentum Dance Lab is a collaborative of dancers who teach, train and perform around the Knoxville community. For more information on

Fame

The only facility of its kind, the Women's Basketball
Hall of Fame is dedicated to recognizing and
promoting women's basketball on all levels.
Visitors can check out the largest basketball
in the world (weighing 10 tons!), test their
skills on the basketball courts, and listen
in on pep talks from famous women's basketball
coaches - including UT's very own, Coach Pat

Pigeon Forge Winterfest: Saddle Up Festival
The annual Saddle Up! Week in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee will feature concerts and narratives by some of America’s finest western musicians, cowboy poets and storytellers.

The East Tennessee History Center is located
in the heart of Downtown Knoxville and offers
visitors a look inside the rich history of our
region. The East Tennessee Historical Society,
located in the East Tennessee History Center,
was founded in 1834 and share's East Tennessee's
history through genealogy programs, lectures,
conferences, exhibitions, and family heritage
programs. At the History Center, visitors will
find great history resources and attractions,
including the Museum of East Tennessee History,
the Calvin M. McClung Historical Collection,
and the Knox County Archives. During Family
Weekend, the Museum will have numerous exhibits
on display including Voices of the Land:
The People of East Tennessee and Mountain
Splendor: Art and Artists of the Great Smoky

Admission to the History Museum is $5
for adults, free for children (ages 16 and under)
and $4 for adults age 55 and over.

Please Note: Due to the nature of processing, planning,
and event coordination, the Parents Association is unable to offer refunds
to any Family Weekend registrant at any time. The Parents Association
Family Weekend will take place except in the most severe weather conditions.
In the event of rain, all activities will take place as scheduled, possibly
in alternate locations. However, in the event of severe weather such as
lightening, the Parents Association, together with the University of Tennessee
may elect to delay or cancel any part of Family Weekend at any time. Due
to the nature of event planning and coordination, the Parents Association
will not offer any refunds, in full or in part, to any participant due

There will be professional photography services on site at Family Weekend
and other Parents Association events. The Parents Association reserves
the right to use these pictures in publications and on University of Tennessee
